I have been neglecting my hands for the last few weeks and it has begun to show in the condition of my nails. They are dry and there are visible ridges which is not a good look. So, yesterday I tried a quick and easy home remedy. You warm a little olive oil in a bowl and add a good squirt of lemon juice. Be careful that it does not get too hot - you do not want to burn your fingers. Then starting with clean, dry hands, soak your finger tips in the warmed oil for a few minutes - the longer you can leave them in, the better. When you are ready to move to the next step, place your hand on kitchen paper or a napkin to soak up the oil and gently push back the cuticles. Massage the nails gently for a couple of minutes. Reheat the oil and repeat for the other hand.
When both hands are done, rinse gently in warm water and dry. Then apply hand lotion or moisturiser. It is a good idea to use a hand cream daily once you get to about 40 since the hands are often the first to show your age.
My budget choice would be the Neutrogena hand cream. My treat would be L'Occitaine's Lavender hand cream.
